POWK!

We called em "Powks" in our house and my mother would cure them by rubbing them with a gold wedding ring.  Seems the rest of the world calls them Styes.

Powk or Stye?

What's interesting about that is that gold and silver have both been shown to have antibacterial properties.

There are even new plasters that have bits of silver metal in them.

It is called a Stye though.

It's a stye.

My nan used to say that rubbing gold and them worked.

Even worse than that though, she used to say that rubbing raw red meat on a wart and then burying the meat in the garden would make the wart dissapear.

This proved quite costly.

All nannas are advocates of stupid remedies. My nan puts butter on bruises to make em fade quicker.

They are definitely styes though dude.

P.S. You can add another Barlow to yer tally
